Proserpine is only a short 20 minute drive away from Airlie Beach along Shute Harbour road leading into the Bruce Highway.
Despite being so close, the 2 towns couldn’t be more different. While Airlie is very much reliant on tourism, Proserpine is a world apart relying on livestock and the main industry being sugarcane.
Proserpine is as country as you like and it’s evident as soon as you drive down the main street. With friendly locals and country style shops and pubs, Proserpine has all the amenities you need to without sacrificing its charm.
Anyone interested in history and old equipment will enjoy a tour of the Proserpine Historical Museum. The town also has it’s own sugar mill which runs for 6 months of the year processing sugar.
Not far from the town you can access the Proserpine river.
